Mass infrastructure for today and tomorrow highlighted by Metrolinx President & CEO Phil Verster

It’s the “stuff” that you don’t normally see but everything that’s needed to keep GO Transit running. The infrastructure that spans the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA) is critical and the scope is massive.

Seven rail lines, spanning more than 460 kilometres with 66 stations are in operation. More than a dozen rail yards and maintenance & storage facilities to keep the trains operating and customers moving.

Then there’s all that is being built for service in the future as well. A significant expansion of the GO Transit network includes 150 kilometres of new track, bridges and tunnels as well as new stations and station upgrades. Four Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects are also either being planned or under construction, including the Eglinton Crosstown.

Service has increased and continues to grow. Metrolinx President & CEO Phil Verster explains all that it takes to make it happen, in this month’s installment of ‘On Board with Phil.’
