Keeping trains on the GO: A behind-the-scenes look at how the transit fleet remains at the ready

The Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility is one of the locations where locomotives and coaches are kept running safely

To keep GO trains running safely, Metrolinx has two maintenance facilities servicing the entire fleet, including the current operations at Willowbrook in Etobicoke and a brand new facility opening soon in Whitby. These yards are used to park, service, fuel, clean and maintain 78 locomotives and 796 coaches on a regular basis.

Thousands of commuters pass these facilities every day, but don’t have the chance to see what happens within these walls. Until now.
