You think it’s cold walking outside for a few minutes, try pouring concrete in this weather.
Last month, the first concrete pour took place at the eastern surface section near Eglinton Square for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project.
The pour went off without a hitch!
This despite the fact weather was sub-zero. This meant crews had to make use of some cold-weather construction tools. They included warming blankets to help the concrete set.
It’s one thing to be able to stand on a platform and enjoy modern and reliable public transit. But in the worst kind of weather, men and women worked to make those trips possible.
Check out the time lapse video of their work.
